Buy it now
Hungry Monkey is out RIGHT NOW. I am so glad to be able to say this, since it feels like it’s been Coming Soon for about forty-seven years.
Buy it now…
…from Powell’s
…from Amazon
…from your local bookstore
…from Barnes & Noble.
Or ask at your local bookstore; if they don’t have it in stock, they should be able to get it from their supplier within a couple of days.
To answer a common question: you can’t buy the book directly from me, but I will send a signed bookplate if you send me a SASE.
Thanks for reading!

I got at an advance copy at the American Library Association meeting in January. I LOVE THIS BOOK. I gave my copy to my mom who gave it to my brother. I’m going to have to go buy a copy to keep for myself. One of the best books I’ve read in a long time.

I can not wait to get a copy. As a food-loving mother of two boys I will take any advice or sage wisdom I can get. Looking forward to meeting you at next Tuesday’s signing.

Congratulations on your new book…love your contributions in PacNW Magazine too. It seems like forever since I last saw you, your wife, and your mom in line at an SPL book sale (pre-Iris days).
My son Alex (who will be turning six) loves dining out and cooking/baking with Mom, but sometimes gets into that mac n cheese/ pbj rut. Some restaurants are also maddening with their limited offerings on the kids menus. Just love public school school menus too (NOT!)
Anyways, I look forward to purchasing a copy of your book from an indy bookshop since the Seattle Public Library system has already 32 holds on only 5 copies on order.
Do you plan a reading/signing in the near future?
Again best regards to you and the family.
Cheers from Shoreline!

Thanks, Lauren. Would it be okay if I put this on the cover of the second printing:
“Thanks for the perfect weekend.” —an actual lady

I have it; I’m on page 65; it’s AWESOME. Seriously hilarious and awesome. Trying to figure out how to review it on my blog - it does at least FEATURE a child.
Also, thought you’d like this article: http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/gutcheck/2009/04/throwback_dried_plums_prunes_st_louis_food_blog_042809.php

I’m on chapter 12. I ADORE YOUR BOOK. You are seriously funny. How did I not know that about you?
And your thai catfish cakes? Kids ate them for breakfast yesterday. Loved them. I think I’m going to post the recipe on the blog next week if that works for you and then, maybe we can do a blog interview before or around your trip to NYC.
Seriously, your book is extremely inciteful about feeding kids. Every new parent needs to read this before they start running around with spoonfuls of pasta, forcing them to eat, for fear they might keel over from malnutrition.
Really, Matthew, great job.

I would pay to see a bunch of kids running wild, chased by hysterical parents with spoons, everyone smacking into each other and falling down with spoon traumas.
Glad you liked it!

Hi Matthew, I met Laurie at the Tilth plant sale yesterday (she trained me up on cashiering) and was surprised I saw her last name! It was an unexpected brush with celebrity. I had an advance copy of your book on my giant stack of to-read books; I started it last night and could not put it down. Your stories are hilarious and I can’t wait to try out some of the recipes.

Reading it now, loving it, and recommending it to all my mama friends. Thanks for all the laughs and for giving me the courage to give my 10 month old “real food”. He was totally ready for it. He gobbled down some chicken and veggie soup I made last night.
