Golden Mandarin Palace

Have you been looking for a book about how to cook your favorite Chinese-American restaurant entrees at home? That book is Quick & Easy Chinese, by Nancie McDermott. I bought it for myself as a late Christmas present, and it is fab. There’s kung pao chicken on the cover, and inside you’ll find sweet and sour pork, potstickers, Singapore noodles—really, all the classics. This is not “authentic Chinese,” it’s authentic Chinese-American. You know you love it.

This book the latest in a series that features Indian, Thai, and Vietnamese. The best news is that Quick & Easy Korean will be out in March, and it’s by Cecilia Hae-Jin Lee, author of the best Korean cookbook on the market.

Added to my wish list (because I love sweet and sour anything). How’s the Vietnamese book?

Pretty good. The Thai and Chinese are my favorites so far, but all of them are worth owning.
