I really wish there was a Trader Joe's down here in Texas. So many people rave about what they carry that I'm feeling rather left out!

Costo has great prices on nuts. The pecans I buy there are closer to $5.00/pound.

Mmmm, pear, pecan and gorgonzola salad. Tis the season.

I bought some walnuts in bulk from QFC yesterday and was shocked to find they were actually more expensive than the pecans in the next bin. When did this happen? Was there some walnut blight I didn't hear about that destroyed half the crop this year?

Trader Joes really is a gold mine. We save a ton each week by shopping there. I generally don't like to buy produce there, but it is pretty hit and miss, but cheese, wine, chocolate, nuts, olive oils and vinegars, all great stuff at amazing prices.

Back in the summer I was eating a lot of buffalo moazzarella, and the price difference between TJs and Whole Foods was crazy - and this was the same brand of cheese too. TJs I remember was half the price.

And that has alway been my secret. I buy just about all of my nuts at Trader Joe's because their prices are so darned reasonable.

And I'm with Iris. Pecans are a favorite in this house too. although so are cashews and Macadamia nuts...
