A conversation at breakfast
Yesterday I noticed buttermilk in the fridge, so I decided to make some pancakes before school.
Iris: Are they blueberry?
Matthew: No, I just made regular.
Iris: Is that because it isn’t blueberry season?
Actually, it was because I was too lazy to dig the frozen blueberries out of the corner of the freezer.

Been there. But this is the time of year when I fluff out my baked breakfast with pumpkin and brown sugar. Nothing is quite like a summer blueberry pancake though…
If it makes you feel better, I have frozen strawberries that I’m waiting to find a use for:)

Watch out for those blueberry pancakes. I tore one in half for my daughter and ripped right through a few blueberries. That shirt is now a window-wiping shirt.

I stopped trying to protect my shirts a long time ago.

I love that a city-dwelling child at that age understands that not all produce is available (or at least worth eating) year-round.
Excellent job, Sir.

In our house, we love blueberries naked, or else we douse them with sweet or sour cream, depending on what’s available in the fridge and eat them whenever we feel like having a snack.
