If you think the bottle is cute, you should see their pub: http://www.stpetersbrewery.co.uk/london/default.htm

It's even cuter in person.

I asked Allen what porter he would recommend, and he said Fuller's. So now I have a bottle of Fuller's waiting in the fridge, but it's not a cool-looking bottle, so I don't see how good it could be.

Last night I went out to Brouwer's and had a glass of Caracole Saxo and a glass of Cantillon Kriek.

I don't know... St Peters has just never lived up to the promise of the bottle for me. Their spiced ale is the most interesting I've tried. I feel compelled to save the bottles, however. Someday I'm going to make a really good homebrew and use exclusively old St Peters bottles to present it.

Oh yeah, good stuff, and what a great bottle.

Have you tried Acme's "Old No. 38" stout? Acme is a brand of North Coast Brewing company, the ones who do the fabulous Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout. The two are at opposite ends of the spectrum, but are both very good indeed. Old Rasputin is a touch syrupy and sweet; Old No. 38 is a very dry stout indeed.
